If the last issue was a milestone, this one is a reminder that we’re still in motion — expanding, refining, and curating the people and ideas that make GAYLETTER what it is. With Issue 21, we continue to embrace the breadth of queer creativity, bringing together a collection of voices, images, and collaborations that make this magazine so gay.
For this issue, we’re excited to present two covers, each representing a distinct yet complementary vision of queer artistry. One brings together Jonathan Anderson and Luca Guadagnino, two boundary-pushing creatives whose work reshapes the way we experience fashion and film. Their in-depth conversation dives into Queer, the film adaptation of William S. Burroughs’s novel, and the ways their collaboration challenges the narratives of desire and identity. The other features Francesco Risso,
the mind behind Marni, whose approach to design is as fearless and expressive as the way we aim to document the world. Our story explores Risso’s deep love of horror — how its aesthetics, psychology, and thrill shape his vision as an artist and designer.
Inside, the energy continues. Puppies Puppies (Jade Guanaro Kuriki-Olivo), the conceptual artist known for transforming identity, body, and performance into radical expressions of queerness. While photographer Christopher Makos and designer Julian Zigerli channel the past and future of queer aesthetics. We go deep into queer vernacular with a look at The Queer Arab Glossary, and we spotlight stories of adornment, from sunglasses to underwear in a celebration of the bush.
At nearly 150 pages, Issue 21 is stacked. And as with every issue, it comes together because of a community of creatives, contributors, and friends who trust us with their work and vision. Thank you for being part of it.
