After the NYC screening of Problemista, hosted by A24, Julio Torres and Tilda Swinton, headed with us to the after-party at the Public Hotel. The film was created by writer/director/star Julio Torres and executive-produced by Emma Stone.
Julio’s character, Alejandro, is an aspiring toy designer from El Salvador, who struggles to bring his toy ideas to life in a competitive New York City market. As his work visa is about to expire, he takes an assisting job in the art-world with Tilda Swinton (Elizabeth) who becomes his only hope to stay in the USA.
The film is a surreal adventure through the unexplainable U.S. Immigration system and the struggle that comes with being an artist in New York City.
We featured Julio in issue 11 of GAYLETTER. It’s thrilling to see him bring his unique sensibilities and creative vision to the big screen.
