The launch of the Whitney Review of New Writing at Nine Orchard
A biannual print publication dedicated to new writing
Hello,
On Monday, we headed to the Lower East Side to the beautiful newish Orchard Street Hotel to celebrate the launch of the new literary publication, The Whitney Review of New Writing.
The publication is founded and run by the talented writer (and copy editor of GAYLETTER Magazine) Whitney Mallett. The theme for the first issue is spirit transmission, self-defense, and sex. You can expect contributions and writing by some of the best young, and not-so-young voices working today including interviews with authors Brontez Purnell, Tamara Faith Berger, Ishmael Reed, and Samuel R. Delany. Issue one contains “reviews of novels, poetry, nonfiction, memoir, art books, periodicals, an AliExpress T, and more.”
At the wonderfully attended opening party we heard readings from some of the Review’s contributors. It was a lovely way to spend a Monday evening in June.
Please enjoy some photos of the event below.
xoxo
