PHOTOGRAPHY BY ABI BENITEZ
Last Friday we attended the preview party for Visual AIDS’ yearly signature benefit event hosted at Berry Campbell Gallery in New York City. The jam-packed event featured over 1,400 artworks with all proceeds from sales going to support the Visual AIDS programs.
This year the institution celebrated 26 years of “Postcards from The Edge.” Since 1988 Visual AIDS has looked after a community of 945 artists living with HIV and worked to preserve the legacies of those that are not longer with us because of AIDS.
Below are images from the celebration. You might like to purchase a postcard from the Visual AIDS site here.
Bushwig 2023: Photos Galore
PHOTOGRAPHY BY MAMBICHÉ After 12 years the queens of Bushwig are still giving shows at the Knockdown Center. It’s inspiring to see such a colorful event going stronger than ever, it’s honestly such an important platform for the art of drag. Prior to this year’s festival, one of the founders of Bushwig, Simone Moss, also known as Babes Trust, died suddenly in early August. The other founders commemorated her throughout the weekend, honoring the power she gave to many queens, and the opportunities she had created for the community. Many queens expressed their condolences on social media, and we’d like to also do it here, may she rest in peace. Thank you for your contribution to our community. All of us saw what you did!
Linux's Paul's Dolls NYFW edition
Last Wednesday, we visited Linux’s weekly party “Paul’s Dolls” at Paul’s Casablanca. The vibe of the party is always up, up, up! The venue is cute, a tad expensive, but we love how crowded it is. You have to rub past so many people to move around, but to be honest it’s all about the dolls. I’d go back anytime, just for the dolls.
