Yves Mathieu East
Spending time with the model, musician and activist who describes his style as "Soft Yee-Haw, Tough Groovy, Beautifully Black."
PHOTOGRAPHY BY EMIL KOSUGE
Yves Mathieu East is a model and musician with an unwavering activist spirit. A tapestry of tattoos, the 29-year-old cuts a striking figure and moves between worlds with a fluidity that’s quintessentially New York.
Half French-Caribbean and born in Flatbush, Brooklyn, he grew up in the Big Apple, but also Florida and Georgia, spending his early years journaling his feelings into song lyrics.
Currently he lives in New York City and spends most of his time helping his LGBTQ+ community anyway he can: an advocate as well as a prolific volunteer. Join us as we explore the stories behind his ink, the music that moves him, and the chosen family he holds close.
